Clutter; it can be in your mind and it can be on your desk and in your life. Either way, it can be destructive and every day is a good day to start to declutter.

The thing with clutter is it drains you of energy, it distracts you from focusing on what you need to focus on and it can block you from creating the abundance you want.

First of all, let’s just say, I think we’re all guilty of having some clutter here and there. I love organizing and have been an organizing freak since I was a little girl, but even I can get clutter piled up on my desk sometimes. The key is getting into a habit of clearing it sooner rather than later so it doesn’t become the status quo.

Everything in your environment affects you subconsciously and clutter has a negative effect on your life and business and even on your ability to attract abundance.

Did you know that even the clutter you cannot see affects your energy negatively?

If there is clutter in your life, it’s likely because there’s also clutter in your mind. Maybe you’re unclear about something? Maybe you’ve avoided making certain decisions? Maybe you have attachments to things you don’t want to let go of yet weigh you down? Maybe there are fears or blockages around letting go?

Once you take care of the clutter, you’ll see it will help you feel more clear in your mind as well. Your environment is a reflection of you, and you become a reflection of your environment.

Let’s take a little assessment to see how clutter is affecting you in your business.

Has this ever happened to you? 

• You can’t find what you’re looking for because your desk is filled with unfiled papers?

• You waste several minutes looking for a file on your computer because you cannot remember where you saved it?

• You go out and buy something only to find out you actually had that exact thing, hidden in your clutter?

• You look at all the papers on your desk, feeling overwhelmed and wondering what to focus on today and what to do first?

• You are buried in emails and feel like you can never keep up?

• You walk into your office feeling overwhelmed rather than inspired?

Think about how much time and energy disorganization and clutter is costing you on a daily basis.

Have you ever thought that your clutter may actually prevent you from having the business and income you want? Clutter is often a block to abundance.

In order to bring in more of the things you want in our life, it’s important to let go of the things you don’t want and need.

It’s a way of clearing space for the new things to come.

Declutter: A few tips to get organized:

Set aside a week to get organized. Commit to spending at least 30 minutes each day to start decluttering your business.

Start with your desk. How does it look? Lots of papers everywhere? Today is clean up your desk day. Start by throwing away anything you don’t need. Put the rest in piles such as: file, review or delegate. Feel free to add any piles that may fit your specific needs.

Start cleaning up your computer. Is your desktop full of unfiled folders and files? Start by deleting anything you don’t need, then file the rest in appropriate folders. Make sure you have a good filing system on your computer, and if not, now is the time to create one.

Start cleaning up your inbox! This is a big one. Delete anything that you no longer need. Unsubscribe to anything you don’t read or that isn’t important to you.

Clean up your office. Now it’s time to tackle the rest of your office or workspace. Remember, any energy surrounding you is affecting you whether or not you realize it. Money likes order and the Universe abhors a vacuum, so if you want something new to come into your life, get rid of things that no longer serve you. Create piles to file, keep, throw away and give away and start clearing up the clutter in your office. I promise you will feel so much better.

Make sure you have good financial systems set up for your business. How do you keep track receipts, inovices and manage and track your revenue and expenses? Are you organized? If so, congratulations, if not, time to tackle this. If you’re not able to handle what you already have with care, how do you expect more money to come into your life?

If you still have work to do after spending 30 minutes on this each day, just continue the process for as long as it takes to get it all done. I promise you will feel amazing when you’re done. And very likely new business will come your way that you didn’t expect as well.
