I’ve been very practical for most of my life. However, sometimes being practical can keep you stuck. Following the logic in your brain is usually not leading you down the path you are meant to be on.

This year I learned a huge lesson about what happens when you stop being practical, you surrender and follow your intuition even when it makes no sense in the moment.

I started the year out thinking I was going to change some of the strategies in my business.

Last year I travelled a lot, and paid large amounts of money for sponsorships. Although they paid off and created a good ROI I got tired of traveling so much for my business and decided to change my strategies this year.

As I started to do several marketing activities (things I had done successfully many times before) I realized that somehow things were not working. Something was off.

It was as if I got stop sign after stop sign thrown in my face.

Somehow, everything I did was interrupted by some sort of technological glitch and as a result I spent a lot of time doing things that really didn’t lead anywhere.

For a while I was wondering what was going on. I had been using these techniques for a long time, and they used to work. Why not now? As one thing after the other came to a halt, I finally gave in. I realized it was a message from the Universe that I wasn’t supposed to do what I was doing – even though I wanted to.

The work I was doing was no longer aligned with who I had become. As a business owner I feel like I grow at such a rapid rate, that my business never quite seem to catch up.

It was time for a change, but I truly didn’t know what that meant or knew what to do instead.

During the next few months, I was getting a lot of very strong intuitive messages. One night I woke up in the middle of the night and heard a voice tell me: “You need to learn Reiki.” It startled me because I had never done Reiki, and it had not at all been on my radar.

Having learned from my past that when I don’t listen to my intuition, things don’t go so well, the next day I decided sign up to learn Reiki. At this point, I really didn’t know why I was doing it; I just knew the message had been crystal clear. And as the good servant I listened to my “master” without hesitation.

Your intuition is your best friend and business partner.

Then, one day I was out gardening when I suddenly got another intuitive voice telling me: Hawaii. I was a bit startled, wondering: What about Hawaii? Hawaii had not been on my mind and this came from nowhere so I started asking a lot of questions about what it meant and I got the message that it had to do with healing. I was wondering if I was supposed to go to Hawaii or what it meant. Part of me was wondering if I was making it up.

The next day as I was going down to my mailbox I said to myself: Universe, what is this Hawaii thing? Can you give me a clear message that this is not something I’m just making up in my mind? Then, a few minutes later, as I opened my mailbox I found a brochure about trips to Hawaii! Seriously, I don’t think I’ve ever seen a brochure about Hawaii ever before – or after this in my mailbox.

The message was clear. Something was going on with me and Hawaii. But what was it?

Ever since we moved into our house more than 5 years ago, I’ve had a Feng Shui crystal hanging in the skylight of my bathroom. When the sun shines it creates beautiful rainbow colored reflections in the room. My mom gave me this crystal before she died and told me to think of her when I looked at it. One day in the shower I saw the rainbow colors from the crystal and somehow, this time they had a special meaning to me.

As I looked at the colors I thought: This has to do with energy healing. It must have something to do with frequency or colors. Could it be color therapy, I wondered.

I started to put two and two together. I figured this message had to do with some sort of healing technique from Hawaii, but I wasn’t sure what kind. I spent some time researching online and I even bought a few books to read on the subject. I thought I had found what I was looking for, but then I got a message that I was on the wrong track.

In the meantime I would see rainbows literally everywhere. Even on my toilet paper. The messages were many and became more and more frequent. It was hard to ignore them, but what was it trying to tell me? (I had even taken a trip to Hawaii in the meantime, trying to get more answers).

The last day in Hawaii, as I took a walk on the beach before leaving there was a huge rainbow over the ocean. What was the significance of this rainbow I saw everywhere?

The time came to go in for my Reiki training and the night before I went back to the lady’s website to learn more. Then I came across something that caught my attention. The Reiki teacher also did something called Arch (Ancient Rainbow Conscious Healing). This is an ancient healing technique from Hawaii. OMG, that’s it, Bingo! I instantly knew this was what I had been led to.

I started reading about more about ARCH® and it said it was beneficial to learn Reiki first! Seems like whoever was guiding me knew what they were doing!

Seriously, I thought, this was quite brilliant how I was led to this training. Shortly after taking the Reiki training I went to take the Arch training. As you may have guessed, it was not a coincidence that I was there, and that was confirmed in the training.

The old me would have been too practical to follow my intuition like this. I would have second-guessed myself, thinking I was crazy for doing things that in the moment made no sense to me. But I know we are guided and if we block out our intuition, we can get ourselves in a lot of trouble, like I have in the past.

I would have never known about ARCH® had I not received such strong messages and taken them seriously.

The moral of the story here is: Surrender. Trust. Don’t try to figure everything out because there are a lot of things your brain cannot understand.

Your intuition is your best friend and business partner. Use it. If something is not working maybe it’s because you’re out of alignment or you refuse to listen to your internal guiding system.
