I’m going to be straight with you. No sugar coating. Growth is messy. That’s right. And as an entrepreneur you are in constant growth, so in other words, entrepreneurship can be messy.

Maybe you’ve already realized this. Or maybe you’re just beginning the journey and have yet to learn the lessons.

Let me explain. As a business owner, you will constantly need to grow. As I like to say: Your earnings equal your level of personal growth. If you are not willing to grow, your company won’t either. It’s really that simple.

You are either growing or dying. There is no such thing as standing still. You either move forward or backwards. As you’re already on this path my guess is you want your company to grow and for you to grow with it. But with that, you need to be prepared for things to get a bit messy.

I told you I wasn’t going to sugar coat it. There will likely be people in your world who don’t like what you’re doing or who you are becoming. There will be choices you have to make that will be tough. You may have to do things that plain and simply just terrify you. And as you do this, at the same time, your own subconscious mind is going to try to derail you from doing what you know you need to do.

The subconscious mind is going to try to stop you each time you step across your comfort zone. The good thing is if you know this you can recognize it for what it is. Your subconscious mind will create circumstances that will make it easy for you to stop.

I’m talking about real things that all of a sudden pop up as barriers to moving forward. It’s easy to mistake this as “it must not be meant to be” excuse. You may think it’s a sign to stop or turn around, when all it is, is your subconscious mind wanting you to run back into safety.

I see this with my clients and although I warn them, sometimes they need to experience it for themselves to realize what’s really happening. When they understand it’s the subconscious mind playing games with them, it’s a lot easier for them to not let it stop them from moving forward.

As you are growing there may also be part of your environment that is not set up for you to live the new life you want to live. You may need to part with some of your old baggage in order to not let it wear you down and in order to create space for what you want. Most likely you will need to give something up to get what you want.

It could be money, security, relationships or something else. It’s different for everyone but it’s usually something you’re attached to that you need to let go of.

Once you’re willing to stop resisting what comes up for you and deal with what you have to do as part of the process you’re going to grow and your business is going to grow with it. Go with the flow. Stop resisting and start allowing growth to happen and you will be able to do things you never thought were possible.

It’s time to break down the barriers that hold you back and see where it will take you. Most likely you’ll even surprise yourself – and despite the mess you create in the process, it’s going to be all worth it because you are stepping into being the best version of yourself. You are living the life you came here to live.

It’s not the easiest way, because you will likely have to go against the grain, but it is the way that will give you growth, meaning and fulfillment. Follow your guidance and you will fulfill your purpose.
